Poster: A snowHead

Can any recommend a ski school for private lessons for an autistic teenager in Mayrhofen? Not a beginner, can link snowplough turns confidently on blue runs (and some reds) but cannot join a group lesson. Thank you for any help!

@20099Kat, does it need to be Mayrhofen specifically, or Zillertal?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

We’re specifically looking at staying in Mayrhofen, so yes but open to suggestions

@20099Kat, we used https://skimayrhofen.com/ in April 2023, I exchanged messages with them discussing what my girls needed and they allocated instructors who were suitable.
One was for my daughter who was 13 then, she is autistic, dyspraxic (and dyslexic). However she started skiing when she was 3, so was at least competent by then and these lessons are about improving technique. She is also in mainstream secondary with an EHCP. Very much aware every child is different

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Thank you so much that’s really helpful. My son will be 13 - he’ll be ok with a decent, fun instructor but it is a bit of a punt. Appreciate everyone different but any ski school who is willing to listen and have a go is worth a try!

@20099Kat, yes they absolutely did. My other daughter wanted to start doing a bit of freestyle and the Harikari. From memory I did 2 half days for them each to help progress working at their individual levels.
Both very much enjoyed it and instructors selected based on what I needed for them.
Key with my daughter was patience and encouragement to move out of comfort zone to progress. Worked very well.
