Poster: A snowHead

I had a great experience in UCPA Flaine when the instructor started teaching us nose press 180s (sometimes called nose butter 180s I think) as a way to improve our weight distribution for turns on steeps and bumps. It seemed to work really well.
It also worked as a way to get my son to flex his boots a bit more in general skiing. For some reason a nose press 180 sounds a lot more appealing to a 10 year old than the usual technique stuff.
Are there any other tricks that can be used in a similar way to improve general technique?

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

Think bottom line is that good technique is fundamental to all freestyle - without it you're really not going to have that stable platform to launch off into stuff which deliberately makes you unstable and then successfully correct it on landing. Even the basic flatland stuff like ollies and 180s require you to be able to shift the centre of balance fore and aft to put spring into your ski or board to help spring up, and winding up into a rotation, to landing and riding out switch.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Agreed and probably explains why my 360s fail in a way other skiers find hilarious

The greatest improvements in my ski technique came from training as a world cup mogul judge. Hours spent watching and analysing mogul skiing at all levels to learn exactly how to mark the runs. You then see where even the best skiers make errors and how it affects the next turn.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I'm not sure this qualifies as tricks really but
1. my kid's instructor was always getting them to ski in and out of gulleys / natural half pipes. I asked him why. He said it was great for (fore-aft) balance as you had to get used to moving your weight back on the way into the bottom and getting centred again on the way out
2. I used not to get airborne very much at all. These days even at my advanced age (53) I try to hop off everything. I think popping and landing is excellent for your balance and posture on your skis

Are we talking about airborne 360s off a feature/mogul/kicker? or the ones where you stay on the snow?
I have the on snow ones down but not the airborne (hence the reference to hilarious falls)
