Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Niseko 2025

Starting this thread early as it may take time to gain traction. I'm a competent red run piste skier, happy doing blacks. Skied 34 times in Europe & only had decent snow maybe 5 times. Done the Freshtracks off-piste course & had a few goes in 7 inches of powder on-piste recently & loved it. Want to do more powder & gradually realised that Japan offers far more chance of getting it & cost will work out on par with a European trip if I stay in a bunkhouse & ski about 9 days. I'll go alone if I have to but getting a group together would obviously be preferable. Trip would likely be 2nd week of Feb (to avoid Australian school holidays), though mid-Jan would be OK as well. Flights seem to be about £1,000; lift pass about same as Europe. Bunkhouse from as little as £40 a night incl breakfast. I intend to do 3+ days out to Rusutsu & Kiroro if possible, and maybe hire a guide at some point, but really just looking to do powder by the side of the piste & find my feet in the deeper stuff. If you want to join me I plan to book room & flights around June/July time as that seems about the earliest you can do it. Hope you can join me!

Hi, 2025 still feels like a long way off, but bear in mind that accommodation books up really quickly.

This year there will be a lot of international visitors, partly because of the low yen (everything is a third cheaper against the dollar than 10 years ago - https://www.xe.com/currencycharts/?from=JPY&to=USD&view=10Y).

There are still great value places to stay for solo skiers as with all group sizes, but they'll book up fast: https://japanskiexperience.com/stay/niseko-accommodation/

The good news is that as well as the low yen, there are still early bird deals available for 2024-25, so prices are currently are as good as they get! Always Niseko is a good option if you're on a budget.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Serious posters only please (ie potential travel partners). I'm not looking for generic sales pitches that largely state the obvious. Thanks.

Happy to chat on the blower, or even better at Lon show if you like. Will be there this Jan as always, know it v well, pal lives in resort etc. If at show let's grab a beer. If in Niseko let's have a run or two. In 2016, did 31 days straight in Niseko, and got... 22 days of powder. Toofy Grin
