Poster: A snowHead

I feel a bit dirty doing it but I’m gonna learn to ski this year and after some advice.
Been snowboarding more than I should for 30ish years so have a reasonable grip on what going downhill is about.
So on the basis that I’ll get around 60-80 days this year where I can ski for an hour or two:
- can I get touring gear to learn on. More interested in touring than just lift accessed, but will be doing plenty of lift accessed to learn obviously.
- any recs on skis/boots/gear? 6’2” 93kg.
- good powder performance not a big requirement because the splitboard will be getting used then. So something that can handle average crap conditions.
- can get plenty of help on learning the ways of the dark side
- assume a silly hat and tight pants is optional ?
Thanks

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

Any skis, any resort, any piste.
Seriously, how long is a piece of string?
One thing I would say though, is don't try to run before you can walk. I have taught snowboarders to ski, and yes, they're likely to be better than a complete beginner, but you will need to start exactly the same as any novice.
So lessons, nursery slope, snowplough. Forget touring skis until you've been doing it for at least a couple of weeks, probably a lot more.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Rent some crap for the first few days ( you probably have a shop hookup somewhere). Splitting should at least have you balanced and knowing how to work 2 edges.
Everytime you fall over or make a mistake just use the standard skier incantation "Bloody snowboarders always sitting on their arrrses in the middle of the run!" even when your incident hasn't been caused by snowboarders.

Silly hat - yes. Some people apparently have special pants for skiing - I just wear my ordinary ones

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Rental gear isn’t a problem for initial stages but I can get in on a cheap pre season order - hence the question about gear. Can’t go past a good deal.
It’s always the snowboarders fault. I know that.
I can “ski” a splitboard. It’s not pretty. Part of why I want to to learn to ski.
