Early Easter Break - La Clusaz

I am thinking about driving to the alps for the last week of march. I am considering going to La Clusaz.
I will be taking two children, one who is 4 and one an infant, as well as the me and the wife. She loves greens and easy blues. They will be in lessons in the morning whilst i look after the nipper, then ill get to ski a bit in the afternoon
I am attracted to it because there is a very cheap self catering accommodation option and it is close to calais.
I was wondering if this is a daft plan? I must had that money is tight. I feel that driving with the kids, although a massive trek, will be easier. It would require a short ski bus.

@llywelyn1984, la clusaz is a lovely village. However this season the snow has been good high up and poor lower down as the precipitation has often fallen as rain at village level.. At nearby Les Carroz it looks as though the runs aren’t open below 1500 whereas they used to usually be open in early April.
La clusaz does have some high altitude skiing at La balme but those slopes are more suited to intermediates.

Val Cenis is a little further to drive but worth considering this year as it has benefited from the recent heavy snowfalls near the Italian border and is a good value option with north facing slopes. It is also close to the motorway and one of the easier drives up to resort.

Les Saisies would also be worth considering as the village is at 1600 and has lots of gentle slopes and it is one of the shorter drives.. However it only goes up to 2100 whereas Val Cenis goes up to 2800.

Flaine is normally good late March if you can cope with the concrete architecture!
