Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ski resorts in the Spanish Pyrenees extend season due to heavy snow

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Several ski resorts in the Spanish Pyrenees will remain open longer than planned. After the heavy snowfall of the past few weeks, there is 2 to 3 meters of snow in some places. Reason enough to keep the areas open for a week longer, with which they can also enjoy the week after Easter.

Up to 2.9 meters of snow

All ski resorts in the Aragonese Pyrenees - a total of 250 km of piste - have announced that they will stay open longer, including Aramón Panticosa, Cerler, Formigal and Candanchu. Just outside Formigal, the snow depth rose from 63 cms on 22 February to 2.37 Metres on 3 March. In the meantime there is even 2.90 metres in Candanchu. Some hotels were temporarily cut off from the outside world. The same also for the N-330 towards Candanchú and the access road to the village of Astún, which was hit by an avalanche.

The heavy snowfall comes at a late stage. At the end of January, they bad snow situation in the Pyrenees, but that has changed since February 22. There will be a lot of snow again this weekend.

Yay!

I'm Eastern Pyrenees. We've just had our first snow that covered the whole of Andorra this morning. A decent amount of snow in a short space of time. The mountains have improved massively over the last two weeks and we've not had the amount of snow the west has had. This week's storm looks like it's coming off the Med so we should get the best of it. Not sure if our slopes will stay open beyond 7th April though because most workers here are from South America and will probably have flights home booked. Arcalis normally extends if snow is good though because there's only a small number of lifts.

I went away for a night and came home today to at least 30cm of snow down to where I live, which is a good few hundred metres below the lowest pistes in Andorra. I’ve not seen it this deep in my village since I’ve lived here (granted only 3 years).
