Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi Snowheads... I'm taking a beginner buddy to Chamonix in a few weeks, and I wanted to get the basics down at the learner area next to the Folie Douce in town. Is it possible to access this for free...Like just walk up without using the drag lifts? Or do you need to buy a ticket?
I know there is another area at La Planards that you do need to pay for. But literally just wanna get him practicing edges and basic turns for an hour or two before our lift pass kicks in the next day.

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@Gruffnutz, Unless it gets colder and snowier I suspect there may not be any skiable snow at those areas - they are very low. Personally I think the best beginner area is the one at Le Tour, you do have to pay, but the ticket for the beginner drags is much less than a mountain ticket.

You can use the magic carpet at Savoy for free. Right now it’s closed due to lack of snow, but they had the cannons going this morning so they’re clearly trying to reopen it.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

@under a new name, what is this Google you speak of? It sounds very useful. Thank you for the info, although it's not what I was asking.

@Gruffnutz, it’s quite useful.
That link takes you to the rates which was exactly what you were asking for …

@Gruffnutz, on the helpful link @under a new name, posted, you may notice "Free beginner's magic carpet"
Since your buddy is a "beginner", and you are looking for something he can do "free", at least to me this seems to answer your question...
To be fair, it doesn't actually state "it's also free if you want to walk up rather than use the free magic carpet" but I reckon that's a reasonable implication.
