Poster: A snowHead
|
I've booked a room in a chalet on a solo basis in Montchavin, 10th March - 17th March and I'm struggling to find a company offering a shared transfer for this resort, something I hadn't considered when I booked. My flight get's in at 09:55 on the 10th and departs 13:00 on the 17th.
Does anybody know of a company that runs transfers to Montchavin, none of Bens Bus, Altibus or AlpyBus seem to.
Might have to fall back on a train to Landry if all else fails.
Thanks in advance.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Have you looked at BlaBlaCar? I haven’t used them myself but have friends that have used them quite successfully. I think ride offers do tend to be quite short notice though.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

We always struggled to find shared transfers to Montchavin and ended up in a private one using White Rides and Mountain Rescue transfers. Not necessarily cheap but might be preferable to hiring a car?

Thanks for that, Mountain Rescue have come in cheaper than anything else I've seen but still more expensive than renting a car. Still on the to sort list.

Pros for transfer with these guys is that their vehicles all have local plates so they can use the back roads on busy days where the police keep non-local cars on the main roads. So they can be a bit quicker on the journey itself. Plus it cuts out an hour of hassle at GVA picking the car up. It might be better now but when we last hired (Jan 2020) we needed to go to the hire desk in the terminal for the paperwork and then a shuttle bus to the car park and then a further hour of waiting around on a busy Saturday. Not to mention the drive itself, which isn’t much fun. We hired a car for the first year and then used these guys ever since for transfers.

I've ended up booking a hire car. Picking it up at 11am on the 10th and dropping off at 10am on the 17th. If anyone wants a lift to Montchavin or Les Coches happy to offer a place for a bit of petrol money etc.
