Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Is the Dolomites unusually warm at the moment?

Just arrived in the Dolomites and it’s 8°c on the piste. Snow is turning to slush. I’ve never known it so warm here in February. Is this unusual?

Large parts of the world are unusually warm at the moment, Europe in particular.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

We had temperatures in the Dolomites of up to +10°C during Christmas week and up to +8°C during the third week of January. On both trips it was like spring skiing at times. Global warming seems to be hitting the mountains hard and I feel sorry for future generations who will probably never have the snow conditions we have been lucky enough to enjoy. Sad

There will be years when the snow is more epic than we can imagine, climate change brings these wild swings. What is in doubt is whether skiing based tourism can handle the inconsistency and survive.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

It’s Alps wide. The snow sure place we love at 1,000m above Schladming, since 24 January has experienced daily maxima of 6c to 14c, some minima have been well above zero. Webcams show green mountains normally seen in April, with narrow slithers of white representing manmade slush.

The ostrich's call that fake news. Early February skiing in the 80’s and 90’s was exactly the same.

So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

What’s “needful”?

There are frequently multiple threads on similar subject. The OP asked an innocent question, which a non-frequent visitor to some location may not know the history would like to know from those who frequent it.

The answers had been on topic and matter of fact. Until you came along to derailed it… Sad
