Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Atomic Hawx Ultra Claw Nut

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I have a pair of Atomic Hawx Ultra 120s ski boots and I want to stiffen them to 130 as is advertised. They came with the extra bolts and claw nuts and there is a second hole in the back of the boot for the bolt. The "claw nut" that the bolt threads into has four little spikes on them. It seems like if I tighten the bolt and nut on to the boot the little spikes will dig into the plastic of the boots and hold it in place. Is this correct? I'm worried about just going for it and damaging the boot. Is there another step that needs to be taken before doing this?

@BigJohnS, that is correct, the 4 prongs dig into the plastic to secure it

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Ok, thanks. So, I just thread the bolt into the nut and the tightening will push the prongs into the plastic. I was just worried it would cause the plastic to crack.

@BigJohnS, it won’t. It was designed like that on purpose, ie for the nut to anchor to the plastic.
