Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

@Pyramus, do we really need anything thread about this (climate change)?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Yeah @Pyramus, it's not like it's really important or anything!

@Mosha Marc, it's not that it's not important but there is already this thread currently running and that was started because "Starting this topic as this is coming up time and time again understandably on the “weather outlook thread “ and needs its own."
And it's been discussed elsewhere plenty of times.
I just don't think another "warmest on record" report needs it's own thread but feel free to carry on.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Is worldwide average even that relevant to skiing? (This is posted in piste section rather than apres after all). You only need a few places with heatwaves and everywhere else being "average" to skew it somewhat.
Fwiw I'm not denying the climate is changing. Particularly European ski season seems like it's now become luck of the draw (was in France in Jan where temps at 2500m were +5!). Now in central Asia where winter has been same as ever - cold weather and lots of snow.

The worldwide average looks bad, but for the French Alps it's even worse...

or if you want to have some fun with that image. Assuming the post 1980s trend then skiing becomes unviable in the French Alps around 2070 - that is not even the high altitude domains can operate although there would still be a month of winter > 2000 meters. If the post 2010 trend continues then skiing is cooked by mid 2040 with mid mountain resorts shuttering during the 2030s. Metabief already plans to shut alpine skiing by 2035 but that would be the 7 Laux, Chamrousses, Pras de Lys etc gone. Again there would be a period in February with snow cover and touring and odd days outside that core but not enough to finance a lift system beyond a couple of tows run by volunteers.
