Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Arlberg itinerary routes

Hello a slightly random question. Does anyone know whether the ski routes in the area are counted as off piste for the purposes of most insurance policies?

Not had an official line from an insurer, but a lot of policies class off piste as 'unmarked'. Seeing as itinerary routes are marked I've always considered them as on piste.

Have a look through your policy document and see what it says.

I suspect it varies between companies. I equally suspect the people who wrote the policies were mostly non-skiers. They knew about the concepts of piste and offpiste, but that was about the sum of their knowledge.

Further, there are routes and there are routes. Here, in St Anton, there is a world of difference between the Madloch-Zug and Mattun routes. One is a prepared piste, but classified as a route. The other, Mattun, is offpiste, with a few guide poles to give you a suggested way down.

@Jakebarton, if your insurance policy has restrictions for "off piste" skiing it is not worth having. Loads of threads on this subject bottom line is there are good options with no restrictions.
