Here at an unnecessarily moist SIGB ski test in La Clusaz and this afternoon I was walking around trying to determine out of the 24,000 odd ski poles which to test.
As this seems to be a Hot Button Topic on SH at the moment I shall test all the classic popular All Mountain poles are best for tapping; ranked by tone, flex, sustain and Get-Out-Of-My-Bloody-Way-ary.
So my must-try list of contenders are in no particular order
Atomic Extrabent
Salomon Noodleflex XL
Sombrarotech HiShades
Wankl Rotary 48000
Castlemaine 4XL
Livingpole Eco Conga
Livingpole Eco Python
Crouchmaster 6"extenders
Suspect Girthy
Suspect Lengthy
Elan Stick
OberGruppenfuhrer Pokemaster 11 Extrasharp
Picopole Industries Skewerqueens
British Skipole Company Wainscotters
Carbon Overdone Triple Extrablacks
And the new kids on the block replacing the Omnipoint
Wizzard Faffabouts (applause!)
Anything else?Other than an apology to Weathercam

@Richard_Sideways, Don't see any Bamboo poles on there, they might have a more mellow (less aggressive) tone than aluminium and more sustain, so less abrupt, than carbon fibre.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I'd be interested to hear more about the Black Crows 100dBs

Surely the Line Chopstix would be a winner here, parting the sea of piste-plebs with an irritating piano ditty!

Make sure you test how well they click, I’ll be buying those.

@Richard_Sideways,
Be sure to test the Snugmufflers too, with their special sound absorbing qualities guaranteed not to offend even the most sensitive and vulnerable.

@Richard_Sideways, can you see if they have any where the volume goes to 11?

Just Poles?
What about Slovaks, Ukrainians and all the Baltic states?

@Richard_Sideways, think you've forgotten a couple of key categories...
Telescopic / extendable poles enabling you from a further distance to engage with the victims.
And, size of basket, as above.
That said not too many poles to demo...

What about those poles that you fill with alcohol? Different notes with different volumes*, presumably, so you can play a clicky tune?
*volume of liquid, not sound.

Wouldn't the tone change the more you drunk.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

@anarchicsaltire, yes it would. It should also change depending on the alcohol content of the fluid too... I feel some research coming on... FOR SCIENCE!

See if you can find some Law and Justice Poles, for the skier who is always right and can sack the judge if they disagree.

Don’t get them, they only stick to blue runs and completely fail to work on red runs.

I’m sure I’ve seen pics of @Alastair Pink, with an old fashioned mono pole posted on here before.
No real clicking ability but surely have fantastic jousting potential to keep your path clear.

@hang11, you can - The Pokemaster 11 above have a 8" concealed Stiletto blade, but you may want to wait till next season - talking to the guy on the Sthil stand says they are bringing back the Linecutters and Gore Sprays next year with new long life LIPO batteries, though it looks like the old 2-stroke ones are gone forever.
@dode, I can pop over to the TyroleanLog stand and get one of their Alpenstock brochures, I think they do a couple with integrated Alpenhorn to get a proper meaty warning blast, though I think they're not recommended in high avalanche risk areas...

@Richard_Sideways, a boxing glove taped to the end would add comedy value and reduce the chance of splinters as well. Win/win.

@Cacciatore, If you like a good strap, than the Wizzard Faffabouts are one you want - Active predictive adjustable length powered by their new 66-sensor system PLNT, 7 different straps to choose from, adjustable Mangna-damping tech from Audi, integrated laser pointer, 3-setting integrated glove warmer and humidor.
