Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Buying boots in Val D’Isere

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi all,

I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s time to replace my 14 year old Salomon Ghosts. I’ve broken my feet a couple times, and between that and getting older they just don’t fit that well any more. Based in Northern Ireland so unfortunately no option to buy here.

I’m heading out to Val D’Isere for 3 days skiing at the end of the month (26th), so I’m thinking I’ll buy out there. Looking for recommendations for where to go. I’m presuming I’ll unfortunately pay a premium for buying in resort, but can’t be helped.

Anyone experience of boot fitters in Val? And should I try to book an appointment before I go out? Any advice welcomed. I’m out in Meribel later in the season for a week so could put it off to then, but rather get sorted sooner.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Mate got some a couple of years ago in Val D'Isere. 2nd day and his shin bang was hurting so much he went down the mountain after 1st warm up run on Grand Pre, walked into Killy Sports and 3 hours later after really good service, pain free skiing ever since. I think he paid around 400 euros. Not sure if it was Bruno though!!
