Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Last minute ski trip to Niseko?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi everyone,

I'm planning a last-minute ski trip to Niseko at the end of this month and would love some feedback on my itinerary and lodging options.

Here's the plan:
    * Arrival: Landing at New Chitose late evening, taking the last bus to Niseko, with an expected arrival around midnight.
    * Skiing Schedule: Two full days of skiing.
    * Departure: On the third day, ski morning and catching the last bus at 3 PM back to New Chitose, followed by a flight to Tokyo.

Questions and Concerns:

1. Travel Logistics: Given the tight schedule, is this plan feasible? I'm particularly concerned about potential delays and the late-night arrival in Niseko. Any tips on managing this?
2. Lodging: My options seem limited to Kutchan or Soga due to the last-minute nature of this trip. Has anyone stayed in these areas? How convenient are they for accessing the ski slopes and other amenities? I'm looking for comfortable accommodations without the need for luxury.
3. General Advice: Any tips or things I should be aware of for a skiing trip in Niseko, especially considering the last-minute nature of this trip?

Thanks!

Stay near the airport for the night and take the 1st bus next morning?

Can't see any issues there, depends on where you are coming from. I'm guessing not far away due to the length of your trip.

I've been to Niseko many times but its been a while now, pre-covid. Not much doing in Kutchan town itself, but due to the nature of your trip that shouldn't matter.

Oh remember to take wide ski's you'll need them!

Plenty going on in Kutchan.

It's where most of the seasonal staff live.

Loads of bars and restaurants.

Fraction of the Niseko United base area prices.
