Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Samoëns - best greens and blues?

 Poster: A snowHead

Heading to Samoens at February half term and looking for some suggested routes to get back into skiing after a 5 year break - any suggestions for nice greens or easy blues much appreciated. And any to avoid…?

Samoens itself doesn't have any worthwhile green slopes. It has a couple of short greens off to the right of the Grand Massif Express but they are learner slopes, often with large groups of kids on lessons. Frankly they would be a nightmare during half term.

The demoisaux green down to the Chariande Express almost everybody uses is better but will be very busy.

Same applies to blues. Dahu is great but probably not the easiest. Verosse is also good and accessed from near then top of Dahu.
Bware of Perce Neige from the top of Chariande Express especially at home time. At half term it will be mobbed. It is hard to avoid it to get back into Samoens.

In my opinion Morillon has the best blues and easily the best green in the long Marvel run. It is very enjoyable whatever your standard.

You can get to Morillon via Perce Neige or Selice/Portet but to ease yourself but I would get the bus. Its only 5 mins down the road.

I don't know about greens in Flaine and Les Carroz but they have plenty of good blues and views if you can get there.

Please be prepared for long queues at lifts. Enjoy.

@New to ski, I think you will find the type of slopes you are looking for in Morillon and Les Carroz. There is some lovely tree lined gentle skiing in these areas and there are some nice mountain cafes like the Igloo and Chalet D'Clair to stop off at.

The best and longest green in the GM is Marvel in Morillon - ideal for getting back into skiing imv.

+1 for the Marvel at Morillon, one of the best beginner/progressor runs ever. Amazing views across to the Aravis too.
