When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Home made mono-ski anyone?

Sorry I didn't have time to whip out the camera but there was a bloke up the Grands Montets today with what looked to be an attempt at making a monoski at home.

It was pretty creative, although looked like crap.

2 skis side by side with a forward 2/3s part of a 3rd ski in between, creating a splayed effect (many monoskis had that general shape) bolted together with plates and an old leash instead of brakes.

On a similar topic, this is my home made snowboard back in 1991, well actually it was just a plank of wood. No style or technique involved, just for your entertainment and my humiliation.
