Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I am thinking of getting REAR ENTRY boots? Thoughts?

Wow. Never heard a 49 year old sounding so old, that a pair of boots will see him out.

I was still doing, and passing, instructor exams in my 40's FFS.

I also have Atomic Hawx. Still piste ones, and the day tour model. Both take me about 30 seconds to put on or take off, standing at the back of the car. What I would say is the stiffer piste version does seem to have a bit if a design flaw where it catches the top of your foot on the way out sometimes which can be momentarily annoying.

I suggest some flexibility exercises and some gym time. Both will help with your overall skiing. I can only assume it is not technique as you have been skiing all your life. But if at 49 you struggle to get ski boots on and off, it does not bode well for your coming years so best get in shape now.

If I stand up, I cant see over my tum to put my foot in my boot.

If I sit down, they're hard to put on and I might not stand up again.

Next boot shall be these bad boys!

Problem solved.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

What, like this? https://www.apexskiboots.com/pages/apex-boots-system

They're a bit more than 200 EUR though.

I bought Nordica HF 110. They are rear entry, and they are also DREAMY!!!!! I love them. Been out 5 times in the last two weeks. I am also switching to a different pair of skis. STOCKLI MONTERO AR. My ski life is on 10 again.

Fair play, that’s a pretty hardcore pair of skis. I tried some last season and they were rocket ships.

@Suburbandad, Just spent the weekend in St Anton with HF110s and Stöckli Montero AX skis. Pretty much perfect, didnt have any feet issues at all, which is a big change from the past. Off piste was shagged so cant comment on how it would have worked but did ski the usual Arlberg stuff, ski routes, chopped up black runs etc with no issues at all. The Montero's are very expensive but great skis. I was trying to buy HF120s but couldnt find any last autumn so bought 110s I now see the 120s on sale at around 30% off......

So is there a UK stockist of the Alpina boot - I've not been able to find one & I obviously want to try them on b4 purchase

Similarly with the Nordica range, I'm not finding anywhere that stocks the range, they have the 100 or the 110, or the 120, but usually only one of the above - I'm based in S. Essex, but travel fairly frequently to Leeds, so anywhere in the A! or M1 corridors is fairly reachable

Also, are these good for anyone with problems with the medial malleolus (that's the lump that sticks out the side of your ankle!) my current Salomon Quest Access Energizer 80, have been getting progressively more uncomfortable over the last few hols, whether because the plastic is stiffening with age or because my ankle has changed shape I have no idea

I've always found it difficult to find comfortable boots since my old Salomon rear entry boots died about 20 years back, they were only 17 years old as well! Shock
