What are the best 'in town' restaurants in St Anton? Not interested in fancy expensive stuff (which is generally not very good), but more easy going but good Austrian local fayre?
PS - no fast food recommendations please!!

@baronofthecourt, The choice for food these days is less than it used to be too many "upmarket" spots opening recently. The Fuhrmannstube has been decent Austrian fare, though suggestions the new owners are not so good, queue up no booking, the Dorfstuben (near Murmel) is pretty standard fare, the San Antonio at Nasserein is a good pizza / pasta spot, Pizzeria Pomodoro by the tourist office is distinctly average again no booking, Skiing Buddha next to the train station is good for a curry / Thai though not particularly cheap. On Friday and Saturday evenings (all week peak times) getting a spot is the most difficult bit.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@baronofthecourt, We enjoyed Giggls cafe bar for good value Pizzas and had a lovely meal in the San Antonio which also has a nice atmosphere.

A vote for San Antonio.
Al fuego and Tenne are fabulous, but almost certainly fall foul of your "[no] fancy expensive stuff" constraint.
Rodel-Stall used to be fabulous, especially the pork knuckle, but it was taken over by new owners last year and I heard some negative reviews. Did not go this year.
Did not visit Café-Restaurant PETE this year, but I continue to hear good things about it.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

even the more cosmopilitan menus will include standard fayre - unfancy restaurants in the village - some as above - san antonio, sonnegg, maximillian, fuhrmanstube, dorfstube, grieswirt, floriani, and then you have a large selection of fancy and boutique restaurants.

Clearly "good" should take into account the amount of beverages consumed in the KK and base camp beforehand too. On that metric the kebab pizza in the kebab shop is the best food I've ever eaten in St Anton.

@afterski, there is the burger take away opposite Bar Cuba, undoubtedly the best take away burgers in St Anton never been tempted to try them possibly because I avoid Bar Cuba as it is such a scruffy dive

Bobo’s. Massive ribs or combo. Comes on a chopping board the size of a snowboard. TV showing German football, dingy dive bar atmosphere, great beer. Sounds perfect for you. Short reviews of 7 restaurants at the end of each day here:

Also worthy of consideration: Bodega, Skiing Buddha and the pizza place next to Maximilian’s that we ate at on the first night but obviously none of these are local cuisine.

As a regular visitor on b/b basis I can suggest these centrally located restaurants/cafes in no particular order -
Grieswirt (opp Murmel)
Aquila (opp Schwarzer Adler)
Dorfstubn (opp Bar Cuba)
Anthony's Pizzeria (Antony's Lifestyle Hotel)
Cafe Sailer (cheap and almost cheerful. On roundabout at Galzigbahn)
Apart from Sailer, reservation recommended. They all get busy.
