Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Least damaged resorts from the rain

Interested to hear thoughts of which resorts in France or Switzerland have suffered the least from the warming and heavy rain this week?

Eh? It's still November, so although there may have been enough to ski a little but in some places, whatever has or has not fallen at this point of the year is pretty much irrelevant for the ski season proper. It's been quite common over the last few years to get some snow in November, sometimes quite a lot, but IME it's all melted away again before Christmas.

@Chaletbeauroc, exactly this.

@Elsie80, don't worry, below, say, 2,500m you wouldn't expect lasting snow yet, above 2,500m a good early base is still being established.

We wouldn't want this sort of rain the week before xmas though.

But +/- nothing's been "damaged" that you would firmly expect or need to have right now.

Oh and you can't read anything unusual into it regarding how good the season will be or not or where to go or not.

@Chaletbeauroc, spot on. I must admit to getting quite excited about mid-November snow (especially as we tend to go out late November and it’s nice to get a short skin and slide in amongst the DIY), but it’s completely irrelevant in season terms.

Not quite - early season snow that sticks around often leads to persistent avalanche problems throughout the season.
