Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hey guys,

Have a private transfer booked for St Anton to Zurich Airport on Thursday January 4th 2024. Looking for two to jump in and share if possible to bring the cost down. Total price is around €450. Handy transfer if you have a 10 or 11am flight as the arlberg shuttle won't get you there in time.

Hi!

Ya my problem is my flight is 11am and trains only leave at 6am I think!

I could go by train the night before and hotel it in Zurich but it works the same as the insane transfer price!

Thanks for the reply

6am departure +2h49m = 9am arrival? Thats ok isn't it? For an 11am flight? Sure you wait a day or two for your skis at the other end but so what. You don't need them when you get back.

@Tadhgog, you are correct. There is no sensible train option from StA that will get you to ZRH for an 11am flight.

You could investigate getting an evening train to some intermediate stop, not far from ZRH, on the basis that hotels there might be cheaper than Zürich CBD.

@afterski, the 6:16 departure gets you to ZRH at 9:44. That is too tight for my liking, but hey, if you want to roll the dice…

@Tadhgog, welcome to SnowHeads - depending on the cost of your return (Aer Lingus?) flight, might it be less stressful/cheaper to lose it and book the evening Swiss flight, take the train from St Anton at a more leisurely pace? Just an idea….

@ulmerhutte, To be fair with ski bags that too tight. Carry on only (which I am all travel other than ski travel) I would run it.

@Mosha Marc, I was just joking about how the skis wouldn't make the flight on the return journey as they were cutting it so tight.

As an aside, on our return from StA this year, the 9am train came into Zürich HB around 30 mins late. Fair to say there were people near us getting quite antsy. We were staying in Zürich, so no big deal for us.
