I've been to Pas a couple of times and thought Soleu would be good as a base this year.
There's a lot of talk about the Sport hotel on here but what about self catering? I've checked the various websites and can't find anything.
Rob/Sharon this could be one for you. Any contacts or suggestions?

Michael B, don't know of any self cateering in Soldeu off the top of our heads, though there is a lot of building work taking place in Soldeu over the last few years, so we would exect something.

Thanks. My research shows that there isn't much. I was trying to get a rate for the Sport Hotel as well but cannot find their website. What's the going rate in late Jan, if you know?

I wanted to do a DIY hol rather than via a Tour Op. I checked the granvalira.com site first. No joy. Only the Vallski came up.

rob and sharon, Good question. Either 4 (me, wife & 2 kids) or 7 with the addition of another family.
I've got all the contacts for Pas and can book there quite easily but I thought a move over to Soldeu would allow us to explore some of the further reaches of the area.
The kids were in ski school last year so we had to be back in Pas by 12ish to collect them. It stifled the long distance skiing a bit but as, this year, they have persuaded me not to send them to school we wont have the same problem.
Thanks for the help. When are you going out there?

Michael B, not sure for next year, largely due to the possibility of me not having a job (contract ends in beginning of Feb and waiting to hear if it gets renewed )
Plus we are still paying off Canada (whistler trip at present )
You'll find the Soldeu as a base a good plan as it's pretty central to the linked resorts, and if you are planning of ski school it's really easy to get too.
As for accommodation check out sport and sport village- it may look expensive but there is the benfit of excellent food and it's very plentiful
here's our website http://www.geocities.com/daggers_jones/ski2006/index.html for this years trip
hope this helps

Try http://www.soldeuonline.com
Hort Popaire apartments look good, altho' not stayed there but been to Soldeu about a dozen times!!! These are available via package (can't remember which tour op tho') or you can fly to Toulouse (yuk!) or Barcelona & get a private transfer from http://www.shuttledirect.com who we've used & they are really good.
Or http://www.stayinsoldeu.co.uk/6.html these are private rental so you'd have to do own flights/transfers.
There are 2 other sets of apartments which I think have been with Panorama in the past - Bonnel & something else - I think they are next to each other & close to Gondola.
If you want any other info about Soldeu let me know & hopefully I can help!!
Enjoy - it's a great place!
This is my first post - sorry if I've broken any rules!!!!!

Paulm, We went on 10th December last year & saw lots of snow on the slopes but the sun shone most of the week (altho it was quite cold). It was great as it's before the main British tour ops started so no lift queues at all. Hoping to go the same weekend this year.

Not getting there seems to be quite a problem for Andorra. We were SO lucky to get there on Jan 28th this year. I dont think anyone from France arrived in resort. We were doing our own thing from Barcelona and arrived after about 5 hours. People were appplauding us as we dragged our cases through the village. Having said that the resort was shut the next day so no skiing then.
