Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

@ster, I'd agree about the typical wheeled double ski bag being unwieldy. I guess I'm wondering about the trade off between extra weight and the convenience of wheels on a smaller bag. Typically I'll have ~15kg of luggage in a north face base camp duffel (or similar), plus hand luggage (with my boots in it if I'm flying) and skis which come in at about 12kg if I've got 2 pairs. I'm not exactly big nor strong so it all adds up and I've found that carrying 2 bags plus skis over a distance can be awkward.

Is that 12kg for the skis including the bindings?

If you’re by yourself, yes hand luggage plus checked bag plus ski bag on shoulders can be awkward.

If I have to, hand luggage will be a small rucksack, check in will be a medium trolley bag (with one or two sets of bindings in it if needed) and non-wheeled ski bag over the shoulder. All just about manageable.

Yep, and definitely worst case scenario of piste skis that are heavy, and off piste skis with a different binding. If I've got 2 pairs of of piste skis that share a binding, then the weight is much less.

I'm definitely chasing marginal gains here and am a bit unusual in that I'm often not flying. Instead I may be walking a decent distance to a bus, then swapping between multiple trains, so ease of carrying is important. I've also found that 2 wheeled bags (ski bag and main bag) together are a pain in terms of manoeuvrability.

Definitely, having two articulations behind you each sometimes with minds of their own can be interesting. Also got to remember you have a 2m long tail, and get it out the way of lift doors.

I have the Snokart which I’ve found to be great as you can zip your case onto the ski bag making it easier to wheel around airports, etc. https://www.snokart.com/products/kart-6

Just thought I'd give an update. We ended up purchasing the Dakine Fall Line from funky yeti (https://www.funkyyeti.co.uk/collections/ski-bags). Got a bit of a discount as it was on pre-order. Anyway, it was delivered yesterday and looks nice and sturdy and very roomy. Roll on December 30th..... Very Happy

I bought this bag recently. Unfortunately it weighs 4kg but it is well padded compared to the alternatives mentioned.
