Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

XO skis for my wife

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi all - looking for guidance here regarding XO skis. My wife is a solid on piste intermediate and I want to buy her some XO skis ready for next season. When in Megeve earlier this year she hired a near brand new set and she loved them. She loves how light they are (also good for me when carrying two sets Smile ). I need 160 length with bindings and aware of a very limited stock in the U.K. Happy to buy online but just checking here first in case anyone has any insight when purchasing XO skis. Thanks in advance.

I know nothing about XO skis. TBH until last year I’d never even heard of them, then a friend I ski with got a demo/lightly used pair (they weren’t cheap) and I thought he had made a mistake.
Turns out, his skiing really improved, was it down to the skis or just his confidence, who knows but he was definitely skiing better on them.

They are awesome skis. My wife most definitely improved her skiing on these skis too. They are deffo not cheap as you say but as skiing is her only hobby, I’m happy to oblige and I think those skis are good for a long period. We do 3 to 4 trips a year (long weekends and hunt for the bargains) so they will have paid for themselves after only a few seasons.

I still have my Head V2’s which have helped me improve a lot. I would love a set of XO’s but a) need to improve my skiing first and b) need some more dosh Eh oh!

@Moorzee10, there are lots of awesome skis snowHead looks like they're on limited distribution so you probably have to go back to Megeve to buy them (or Zermatt) ...

I rented a pair of X0's in St Gervais at the top of the lift about 5 years ago.
I saw a young lady using a pair of X0 in Hemel a couple of weeks ago as well.

They are a boutique brand though.

Just checked the skis. H31 " built to make your best powder turns ever". What's the width I hear you cry? 97mm. What's the longest length? A mighty 184. No mention of rocker or rise. You can see what their market niche is. And it ain't that.

My wife rented the GEN Z ones but I’ve also seen the V series online.

I’m not a ski geek but the on piste skis are some of the thinnest width apparently. The USP with these skis is the weight and the quality of them as previously mentioned.

@Moorzee10, reduced weight? Lots of lightweight skis, e.g. Movement.

I'm just slightly strughgling to see what makes these so special, other than very good marketing and a big ticket!

WHat I find extraordinary is that they have a range specifically for old-skool skiers. Which is a bit regressive, IMV!!

The theory is my wife tried the skis and loves them. She is even less in the detail than I am when it comes to specifications of ski equipment. Thus far in our very short ski journey (first holiday was March 2022) I have used the local expertise in resort who have been excellent with my ski and boot fits. With XO skis, they are not available in every resort so hence this post to suss out any U.K. suppliers and folks experience.

For us as hobby skiers (albeit we love it), the notion of spending our limited time on the mountain testing multiple skis is not for us. My wife has found a brand she likes and I’m willing to invest. That will do for me.
