As we have extra hol being 8th of May, Im thinking to extend my winter this year and go to glacier 8th-14th May in Austria (as I have Tirol Snow card)
Im pretty sure the Hintertux will be open, Stubai? Anything else is open that Im missing?
I spent couple of days in Hitertux last year from 8th May and it was epic , exept last day when temp got quite high.
This year is very unusuall winter, its quite cold all spring and not much of the sun, so conditions could be super good.
Kitzsteinhorn has great snow, but not much sunshine forecast. Believe that the last day for Salzburg SuperSki season passes is 1 May, but will stay open way beyond for day tickets.
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

There seemed to be relatively few pistes open per the website (about 23km). Do keep us updated as I've booked Munich flights so it is a toss up between Stubai, Hintertux and Kitzsteinerhorn.

Anyone heading off-piste on the glaciers at the moment, be careful, the heavy snow and warm temperatures is causing a lot of big slides. The daily bulletin is no longer running, but this blog is updated every few days when the situation is tricky: https://avalanche.report/blog
snowHeads are a friendly bunch.

Yup, only 2 chairs from Gamsgarten and upper bugel are open , that's basically 2 pistes from 3100 to 2600. Also check the weather, as its whiteout here until Saturday it seems. Cheers Ed.
And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

@Scarlet, yep I was planning on being very cautious as I don't really understand avalanche risk at this time of year, was just hoping for a piste refresh and maybe some conservative side piste
If anyone is in Hintertux or Kitzersteinerhorn let us know how it is! I think I will choose Tux on piste numbers alone but have been there before and liked the look of Stubai from videos.
So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

@ed48, Jesus was there anyone else there at all?? It's like there's been an apocalypse and you've managed to steal the keys to the lift station

On first day it was snowing, bad visibility etc, I think Ive seen about 4 people at ski resort total Next day, partial visibility in the morning, lot more people, mostly freeriders. On Saturday, it looked like typical skiing day, with queues on the base stations, ski racing teams, etc. I guess people watch the weather forecast, and go when conditions are good.
