Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Just poles in checked luggage - how?

So not skiing, but im going to do a hut to hut walk later in the year.

Walking poles are clearly banned from carry on and i don't want to risk it so my question is how do i check them in?

I don't want to check anything else in because if it doesn't arrive it writes the holiday off.

Do I just tape them together and send them like that or will I need some sort of bag, which i'd like to avoid because of its weight? Any other tips or ideas?

What about getting some telescopic ones, like these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/telescopic-walking-poles/s?k=telescopic+walking+poles&tag=amz07b-21

Can believe it's worth paying for hold luggage over the cost of buying a cheapie pair.

Having had a cheap pair collapse on me on an early start (2:30am I think), I'm not sure I would buy a cheap pair -- because if they break, that would really write the holiday off! I've done several trips with EasyJet since Covid, no issues with hold baggage at all.

@hobbiteater, Tick the box on your booking for "Mobility Support" and then they are your walking aids. Simples.

Thanks all!!!

Can't post them as first night is in a hutte and really don't want to have to find a show and buy some, I have some so that seems like a waste or very least more of a faff to sell on.

I'm on swiss to ZRH, the bag was about £50 return, doubt I'd find a pair of poles in the airport for that, I did look.

Bubble wrap is a good shout.

They are collapsing but hiking poles are explicitly banned from carry on.

Or just carry a tiny roll of sellotape and wrap the poles in a carrier bag (obtained abroad) after the trip.
