Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Skis really are a terrible faff when they're not actually attached to one's feet... and sometimes even when they are. Laughing

Oh aren't they just? I loathed carting mine on the train and around Gatwick and Turin airports and having to get them out of their case (along with all the stuff I'd stuffed in with them) in order to fit them into the rented car. Though to be fair, it was mainly my daughter who did the actual carting.

I normally employ the over the shoulder method, with an arm resting on the front of ghe skis and the front binding just behind the shoulder, normally keeping the tails high, away from other people's heads, until I slipped on ice, resulting in a crashing helicopter impression, twisting my knee on the first morning of the week & nearly decapitating the snowHead walking behind me rolling eyes

I was always taught the key advantage of this technique is exactly that scenario - the centre of gravity is behind you, so if you slip and let go of the skis, they fall behind you, rather than you falling on top of them. Like you, I proved this to great effect on my first day in resort on some ice (I even managed to somehow throw in a commando roll).

Nope they can still swing round and cut the bridge of your nose.

Ouch. Yes, I guess they don't necessarily go down straight. Bloody things.

Or maybe don’t don’t walk so close to the person in front of you carrying skis - after all, you can see them, they can’t see you ?
