Looking for 1 week for 2023/24 outside of school holidays he will be 4 years old then. He can snowplough use a magic carpet & tow rope. We went to puy st Vincent under snowbizz but the lessons did seem very short 1hr so I’m not sure given he can go down a shallow slope next to us with speed control if this is the right fit, he really hates the walking around they do for beginners & he’ll be in the same class again next year. Any other suggestions of somewhere that maybe does a bit more skiing for younger ages but is high quality lessons (can’t afford 121)? Of course I don’t want him to end up hating it but we give him a present everyday for skiing so he seemed pretty happy about the holiday experience. We’ll of course wean him off the present expectation once he’s a bit older..

I have been looking for a friend and found that prosneige do 3/4 year old lessons for 3 hours in a select number of resorts. Our were 5/7 (so not in this group) when they started and prosneige were good and they get good reviews.

@Rh2205, this was one of reasons we stuck to the Espr Esprit model for many years with ours (3yr age gap), they limt numbers in classes and for when they are still beginners have a snow ranger to support. They used different schools in different resorts bit ensured the quality for the most part. So eg even where ESF was used and the normal ESF groups whete huge long snakes those with the Esprit bibs were limited to the sizes Esprit do.

The snowbizz model is good as it is 4hrs plus an extra 4hrs afternoon if you want it, but the ski content is only 1hr including breaks for that age, I’d prefer a bit more practice than that as he was only getting 3hours total practice in a whole week taking into account breaks in that 1hr lesson (which to be fair they take them too & also provide a nanny on slope). We also had a week in 4 vallees & the beginner slope there was much steeper which is where he actually learnt his snow plough & seemed to survive without the nanny. The Swiss ski school limited to 4 kids so that was slightly better than Puy. But I’d prefer a better overall package than just the 2hrs the Swiss school offered though the ski content was definitely longer..

I think snowbizz keeps away from even the vaguely tough love scenario of a ski school. They are trying to avoid any crying whatsoever which to be fair they did very well but the offshoot is that young kids do very little instructor led skiing. Somewhere more in the middle would be preferable. Only thing is Espirit seems ridiculously expensive as only goes to pricey resorts now so maybe a diy option, I’d read about Austria on this forum but one I checked out has shut down, I don’t know if they do more of a package of childcare around the actual lesson or what resorts would be suitable.

We are off to Val Thorens with our 2 next week - one is just 5 and the other is 10 and they havent skied before. we have book Prosneige after reading great reviews. Max group size is 6 for beginners. 3hrs lessons (we are doing 9-12) with a hot chocolate break. All emails/comms so far has been really good - they also do a lunch club so they ski until 12 and then stay for lunch and general play until 2pm so may do that one day, just to get a bit more time to explore ourselves. will report back when we are back!

@Rh2205, there offering sadly has got less and less. Check out Champoluc? We found back in the day making use of the kids free places on the right weeks booking early got it in vaguely reasonably on price.
Nb when we went to Salen, Sweden we were surprised how short lessons were there.

I’ll await to hear more news on val Thorens! After a bit more research I see Serfaus coming up as being the pinnacle for kids skiing, I am interested to hear more from anyone who’s been recently as that’s 4hrs with a lunch break which works well for us. Plus it looks like lots of cruising terrain which is always fun, just concerned it might be excessively busy whenever you go.

Apeak ski school in Montgenevre is excellent.
Small classes, brilliant and friendly instructors. Good value too as under 6 get free lift pass. Green runs from the top of the mountain so not stuck on nursery slopes all week.

Grächen Switzerland. We went with a 3&6yr old, superb for kids (and therefore parents). A wonderful ski school with big learning areas (4 magic carpets, drag and a tbar in learner zone. Indoor and outdoor playgrounds on the mountain and 2hrs free creche per day if you want a bit more ski time. We usually ski morzine and we LOVED Grächen. Every Swiss person we know knew all about it but it was a totally new resort to us.
