Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Lugging skis to indoor ski centres

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
After a lifetime of renting I’ve finally bought my own pair of skis and want to give them a whirl at the fridge.

Random question but for getting your skis from the car park into the centre do you whack them over your shoulder (as you would in resort) or use a bag?

If using a bag I’m guessing it would need to be un-padded to be able to scrunch it up to fit in a locker?

A bag's not great as generally once used the gear will be wet, and putting wet skis/ boards in a bag even for a short period isn't a great idea. Just chuck in the back of a car. If there's stuff you don't want to scratch wrap in bit of cardboard or some such. Since Covid I just get changed in/ around my car and don't bother with lockers etc, in HH at least, as depending on where precisely you park the walk is only a few meters.

For road safety you should use a ski bag, but leave it in the car. Take an old towel to dry the skis afterwards. And leave the poles at home -- use theirs.

@Sugar_ray_84, Don't bother with a bag. When you finish, no matter how hard you try, you won't get them completely dry, so make sure you have a plan for anything else that might be in you car with them.

The same reason most people do, I suppose, which is to practice. They are also handy for shaking down new gear.

These days I usually grab a visit or two a year, not close to the weekly visits I'd put in when on a different part of the learning curve.
In Covid times HH was the only accessible snow until Iceland opened up:

I'd post shots of the Hemel car park but...
