Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Recommendations for snow walking grips

Hi, I’m planning on doing a bit of snow walking on my next visit to the mountains and was looking for something to slip over my shoes/boots for extra traction, I’ve seen various ones on amazon and eBay ranging from 3 to 20 pounds, Has anyone tried some of these and can recommend me a pair that’s not likely to break on first outing, cheers in advance

I could also do with a recommendation. My main problem is not having strong hands - some I've tried I simply can't get on.

@Snowlover66,
What sort of walking, just going round town or out in the wild ?

I agree some are hard to get on - my hands are very weak. I find some sort of crampons very helpful for icy pavements too - along with a pair of ski poles. Yaktraks are good.

@Snowlover66,
Mrs M has purchased a few options over the years, I'll ask her when she gets back. these were the last thing I remember buying.

These types are good for hard packed snow and ice (think pavements and other areas around resort) - easy to put on, and saved me a few times. Imagine they’d work out on the trail if hard packed too https://www.amazon.com/Aliglow-Grips-Traction-Spikes-Footwear/dp/B07HK4KWYF/ref=sr_1_10?keywords=snow+trax+for+shoes&qid=1678622962&sr=8-10&tag=amz07b-21

+1 for YakTrax. Even better if you have pair of otherwise suitable shoes that you can just dedicate for this use, so you can leave the YT on 'em rather than installing them each time you head out.
