Hi, I’m planning on doing a bit of snow walking on my next visit to the mountains and was looking for something to slip over my shoes/boots for extra traction, I’ve seen various ones on amazon and eBay ranging from 3 to 20 pounds, Has anyone tried some of these and can recommend me a pair that’s not likely to break on first outing, cheers in advance

I could also do with a recommendation. My main problem is not having strong hands - some I've tried I simply can't get on.

I agree some are hard to get on - my hands are very weak. I find some sort of crampons very helpful for icy pavements too - along with a pair of ski poles. Yaktraks are good.

+1 for YakTrax. Even better if you have pair of otherwise suitable shoes that you can just dedicate for this use, so you can leave the YT on 'em rather than installing them each time you head out.
