Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Plagne 1800

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi all,

Looking to revisit La Plagne this year after a near 35 year gap and would welcome some opinions on La Plagne, specifically 1800.. as a base. Got the ski bug after first trip to Plagne 1800 in late 80's with the Uni and stayed in the UCPA building.. obv there will be a lot more development since my last time there but wondered if there are now hotels, a few bars to watch the footy, restaurants, and are there easy links to Plagne Centre, Bell Plagne, Bellecote etc or is 1800 still a ghost town like it was in the 80's (entertainment was limited to the UCPA bar and a Sports Club up the road which duly nailed-our-hats-on charging £7 for a pint and £5 for cheese toastie even then. Thanks in advance. Rob

Chamonixsbust (Rob), very tempted to say 1800 is still a ghost town - we like to keep the place a little secret hideaway.
It is still special, but not quite as dead as you remember.
There are now 2 lifts - only had the 1800 lift up to the Golf slope when you were there. Now also has Melezes lift up to Bergerie.
Excellent bar in La Mine which shows many sports events - even footy. Other bars are available.
La Cantine does good pizzas and tapas with lively atmosphere. Also Loup Blanc and Chaperon Rouge. Not yet tried Le Cocoon.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Perfect Jonpim, much appreciated. Sorry to blow 1800's cover (maybe only you and me saw the post Embarassed ).

Not quite Chamonixsbust: your post was spotted by Layne and he brought it to the attention of those on the La Plagne thread.
You would do better by sending any further queries there.
