Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Meribel to Geneva for a 7:30 flight

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Ive messed up some flight bookings - like an idiot I booked a 7:30am flight from Geneva to London but have realised that that's far to early to get a Bens Bus transfer From Meribel Motteret. Doh! Does anyone here have any ideas about a cost effective way to get there in time? Currently I'm looking a private transfer or rebooking to a later flight, both of which are expensive options!

Any suggestions gratefully received!

Another option - transfer the evening before, with a cheap airport hotel?

1. Private transfer.
2. Go by public transport/taxi to Geneva the day before and stay in a hotel.
3. Possibly travel with some TO staff early in the morning (might be worth an ask around).
4. Rebook flight (which is what I would go for).

@clived, what day of the week is your flight, and are you solo?

as others have mentioned, travelling the evening/afternoon before and staying at a local hotel may be your cheapest option, though it will probably mean missing a days skiing

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

How many are in your group?

If you're in a group of more than 5 people, a private taxi starts becoming cheaper than the bens bus transfers whilst being significantly more convenient. I paid 600 EUR for a return transfer Geneva - Meribel last winter.

Flying solo on a Saturday, I can’t travel a day earlier unfortunately as I’m on a course all week.

Will probably have to suck up either the transfer or flight change, it’s touch and go as to which will be cheaper Eh oh!

Thanks for all the suggestions!

I think there's absolutely no need to "suck up the cost of a (private) transfer" - and no need to miss a day's skiing, either. 3 weeks ago we booked a 3.45 pm transfer on a Friday with Alpybus and slept at Geneva airport. wink

I thought they chucked people out, though I've never tried it! It might be worth costing a rental car, especially if it's a short trip that you're doing, @clived.

@clived,

It’s quite likely that there is a ‘shared’ leaving Meribel on a Fri afternoon around 4 or 5pm.

I’ve got some experience as I’ve previously worked as a transfer driver.

I say this as EasyJet have quite a few 9/10pm departures and or arrivals coming in around 9pm!on a Friday.

Then Ibis Airport or Nash Suites/Nash Praktik are all very very close to the Airport. Within about 8 x min walking distance.

Or Sat Morning they have shuttle buses that start around 4:30am.

If that would work with your course reach out to snowbound transfers or post in the 1st lift tarentaise Facebook group.

If it’s a BASI course they often used to finish early on the last day and you could ask the trainer if you could be first for the de-brief.

All the best.

Edited. Other firms apart from snowbound who might have a crazy early shared transfer on Saturday morning are 3 valley-transfers, levanrouge, LePraz transfers

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Have a look at BlaBlaCar. A friend got offers for a couple of lifts from Val D to Geneva via them at the end of last season under similar circumstances.

@clived, if it's a BA flight and you have a normal (with baggage) ticket, then you can usually change it for free via the app on the day of the flight, i.e. at 1 minute past midnight.

I can recommend a chap on AirBnB who has a spare room seconds away from the main station in Geneva (Cornavin)

About £50 per night, trains running to the airport from just before 5 if you need to keep costs down
