Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hi,

Unfortunately, I require mondopoint 335 boots and the only boots I could acquire locally in this size are Head EDGE LYT 130s (which have 130 stiffness and the stiffness can be adjusted slightly). (note that all the rental places I have called simply don't keep boots in my size). The boots fit well and are comfortable.

I am also very tall and quite heavy 198cm (6'6") and 100kg (220 lbs).

I skied a few weeks 14 years ago and would have classed myself as intermediate. Unfortunately, I have skied since then and went to a local beginner slope at the weekend (in preparation for a week in the Austrian Alps) and it's clear my ability has deteriorated.

So my question is: as a beginner (though not a complete beginner) will my technique and learning speed suffer from having such stiff boots or will I simply get used to them?

At your size and if the boot fits perfectly, I wouldn’t worry too much

with your height and body weight i would think you will be fine, boot flex is not just about ability as the manufacturers often allude to, it is much more about body weight, level length and power

@Ams627, I have a suspicion that "beginner" boots are, to a large extent, just cheaper. You are big and heavy, and anyway you can't get anything else! I think you'll probably be OK.
