Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Demoing Skis Champagny / La Plagne

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi guys,

Off to Champagny in the La Plagne area in Feb for 3 weeks. 2 weeks I will be working remotely and 1 week I will have as a regular holiday for skiing. I'll obviously ski weekends as well, and might take the odd half day off work if there's any fresh snow dumps.

Has anyone had any experience in demoing skis in Champagny (ideally) or less ideally, the wider La Plagne area, and can recommend somewhere?

I will be doing an absolute minimum of 11 days skiing, probably going to be 13 days on the slopes, so the cost of renting skis for me will be pretty high, especially as many of those days will be non consecutive, so the cost per day jumps up a lot.

I've skied Champagny probably close to 10 times now and most of the sports/ski shops strike me as places that churn people in and out rather than dedicating themselves to selling skis and quality boot fittings ( more than happy to be proven wrong!).

The other option is obviously I buy in the UK / order here and bring with me, but I would like to try them out if possible.

Cheers in advance!

You can demo in most shops but they charge you, taking it off the purchase price if you buy.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

That was my plan. Have you had that specific experience in Champagny or La Plagne? Based on google searching everything just seems to advertise renting.

To anyone else wondering this, I contacted the Champagny tourist board and they said shops there would only sell skis at the end of the season (apparently), which sounds like they'd just be shifting the rentals.
