Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

ski accident

Hi ive broken my Tib and fib, quite near to the joint and it was quite a bad one just wandering if anyone has had this unfortunate horrific trauma?
have you managed to get back to sking again,I know it wont be this season for me,but Im hoping this isnt the end.I am on my 35th day since the operation and ive been going to gym every day working on all other parts of body keeping strength up except on the broke leg.
Do you have to have the screws taken out or would they be best left in I think I have 3/4 screws no plates.?
I guess I am worried that it will be weak and very brittle and if I ski again it will just collapse.I am a sking fanatic and to not ski again would to me ,end my life if Im truthful.
Any words of encouragement would be appreciated.

@slalomskiboy, I broke my tibial plateau quite badly on 1st April 2013 and was skiing at the end of November 2013. Still got the plate and screws in, they don't cause me any problems but everyone is different - your surgeon will advise. rehab is key, find a good sports physio and get to the gym 5 times a week. it won't be weak and brittle as it will have healed and the bone will have fused

my blog here https://snowheads.com/ski-forum/viewtopic.php?t=99642

edit - i see you've posted in another section and give more detail - its ankle joint not knee joint so my journey may not be helpful
