I'm off to Alagna for a week and am looking to buy a pair of freeride or hybrid AT boots. Mild preference for doing so in-resort if possible: but I've not been able to find out anything about what bootfitting is available in Alagna. Anyone have any recommendations? If not, it's a choice between a trip to Ellis Brigham in Bristol on Saturday (with the benefit of future adjustments being included in the rice) and arriving Alagna a week later and taking my chances with what I find there.
Sporthaus seems to have a better range of boots than Ellis Brigham, but their website doesn't have any information about fitting (or for that matter any purchase prices!).

Ok, in the apparent absence of any SH knowledge of Alagna, I think on balance I'm going to try to buy boots in-resort (and report back here after my trip with what I find). My thinking is that there'll likely be a decent boot-fitter somewhere in the town, and a week gives me the opportunity to try things out before committing to buying, and in the worst-case scenario I'll do a week in hired boots before going to Bristol or Bicester for a fitting. (If anyone thinks that's the wrong thing to do, please let me know what you would recommend doing instead!)

@jmr59, There is a god boot fitter in Champoluc that we have used. One of my sons is unusually tall, skinny, weird feet, quite awkward but also a very good skier. He had grown out of his current boots between Christmas (when we checked) and Feb (when we went on holiday), and we could not find anything that fitted him comfortably either to buy or rent. Thos guy sorted him out and took a lot of time and effort to do so. The shop is called Xtreme Sport Shop, on the main road in Champoluc close to the gondola. If you go make sure you get the main man (ask and they will know what you mean). I know it is not ideal, but it would be possible for you to ski over from Alagna in the morning for an appointment.
He also did some adjustments and custom footbeds for my daughter, she used to race a lot so is both very particular and knows what is what. She was happy which says a lot.

OK, the update, for anyone who has a similar question in the future, is that SportHaus in Alagna is exclusively a hire place, and doesn’t sell boots or skis (bar offloading some of the previous year’s stock). So if you’re looking to buy boots, don’t try to do it here!
Matthias in the shop seems to be a pretty good fitter, though, and will also make adjustments to your own boots if you need. If he’s not in on the day, though, then the experience is a bit more hit-and-miss. I’ve had a pretty good week (so far, last day’s skiing today) on hired Lange XT3 120s, and now have a better idea of what I’m going to be buying. But it was still another week on hired boots (which is what I was ideally hoping to avoid).

@jmr59, be aware that Ellis Brigham can be very hit and miss re boot fitting. THere may be better options near you ... you could ask on a new thread with a suitably informative title?
