Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Geneva Airport - Bourg St Maurice Train

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Last minute change of plans and lack of affordable transfers on 31st December mean we have booked a train from Geneva Airport to Bourg and then a transfer from Bourg. Anyone know how reliable the trains are? There is a distinct lack of trains available on 7th Jan? I heard there were strikes for New year but they have been called off? Have I just embarked on a nightmare. There's 4 of with luggage and large snowboard bag. Is it easier to put luggage on an SNCF trains?

Yes, the trainline.com only report 4 trains between Bourg st maurice and geneva airport on the 7th. May I suggest that you use their app or supply a mobile phone number that SNCF can contact you with if the train is delayed or cancelled. They run a repacement bus service if it is, but only a couple a day. The last time I used the train I had to get the 07:30 funicular down from Les Arcs in order to get the replacement bus service. It all worked out OK.

We had no trouble with luggage. A young lady even offered to help me with my 22kg bag up the stairs in Geneva airport. On the train from geneva to Chambery we had a jazz trio in our compartment. I imagine their double bass was as much of as a challenge as a snowboard bag. They coped well.

Relax and just double check the departures
