Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Saas-Fee in December (a warning for true blue-ers)

Just back from a first blast of the season in Saas-Fee! I've never skied in December before and I have to say I liked it. Snow conditions were good - snowing when we arrived and snowing when we left. Mainly cold but temperatures were rising when we left. Despite the dire predictions of strikes and delays we passed through Heathrow really easily. Geneva passport control was a shambles, though, with massive queues and very few desks in operation. Swiss railways got us to the resort as efficiently, as always. Hotels and restaurants were gearing up for the season and there was a fair number of Brits getting some early season snow. The resort was very much familiar territory (last visit April 22) but this time we were taking advantage of the excellent value Magic Pass. There was one major problem, though. During the summer, a large chunk of glacier fell off below Felskinn, near the tunnels. This has closed at least two lifts and all of the blue runs above Morenia. This has severely limited options with just the village lifts and Panorama for 'true blue' skiers. I was told this area is unlikely to open at all this season. Disappointing that there has been no publicity about this. There has been one piste improvement with the previously horrible Run 10 redirected down a slightly easier and less narrow pitch. Heathrow baggage collection took almost two hours - another airport shambles!
