Looking to buy new skis but unsure what size is right. The skis I want to purchase either come in 156 or 163. I'm 167cm tall, they are a piste performance ski and my level is BASI level 2. Should I go for 156 or 163? I was veering towards the 156 as my current all mountain skis are 157. Any advice?

What you you mean by saying you're BASI level 2? If you're actually an instructor I cannot imagine why you would be asking such basic questions here - you really should know about this stuff yourself. Your other threads about wanting to become an instructor imply otherwise, so I think it's pretty safe to say that you're not that level.
You don't even give half a clue as to what sort of ski it is, whereas anyone of that level would at the very least know that different types of ski would be appropriate in different lengths, e.g. generally shorter for Slalom, longer for GS.
I can't help wondering if you're just trolling...

I would advise that whaen you go away next.
Go to the best ski shop you can find in that town and rent some "test skis"
Its the only way you know you have the right skis ...
You'll be able to try all the brands in all the sizes.
Then they will usually discount the price of the skis by the rental price.

Thanks for the rude response. Surprisingly, basi don't teach you that much about equipment. I do have my Level 2 that I recently earned.

I'd say the 156. That's assuming your "piste performance" ski is something carve orientated sub-80 waisted ski whereas you're currently "all mountain" (black pearls?) will have a bit of tip and tail rocker, so shortening the running length a bit (all a bit back of an envelope reckoning).

Presumably the same ski in different length ?
If so, that 70mm I'd feel is getting close to splitting hairs in reality. Probably too hard to decipher just talking about it, with the need to run them side by side in same conditions to even view competently yourself.
Even then, if conditions change, you may switch your impression as to which is the best in that appreciation.

I think you're looking at this the wrong way.
1st: boot colour: match or clash!
2nd: having done that, any out of blue/green/yellow/purple.

An odd post. Skiers at the supposed level of the OP generally both know about kit and would articulate more detailed information. Also not true that BASI don’t give any info on skis, and lots more on forums from people doing their instructor courses. Weird.

Have to say, I’m with Chaletbeauroc on this.
Whatever BASI teach, or don’t teach, I’d have thought anyone undertaking an instructor level (BASI 2 in this case) qualification would have a better grip on fairly basic ski knowledge…..I mean, if you’re teaching a beginner/early skier, and they’re on the wrong type of ski, that could hinder their progress, how could you expect to give them half-decent advice?
