Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

When is the BEST time to book?

Hello all.

When would you say is generally the best time to book your ski holiday? Is it usually a case of sooner the better? I know Sunweb are highly regarded but they don’t release deals until summer, ready for the next season. Have looked a couple of times at last minute deals and theres very limited accommodation left so I think I need to be a bit quicker this time!

Austria Saalbach if it mattered..

if you have set dates, flights when they are released & accommodation when they are released.
Its very difficult to book french accommodation before their Summer season.

It's easier to be flexible and react to change, and opportunity, if you haven't decided in advance exactly where you want to go. If you do have a definite destination, good idea to book as soon as what you want becomes available.

It all depends on the requirements of your holiday, the time of year, how flexible you are and what's important to you. If you have specific requirements then it's best to book as early as possible.

We book (lovely to us) hotels 12 months ahead. More and more allow this, either directly or using hotels.com et al. Sometimes this is a one-way firm commitment from the hotel, a ‘pre booking’, awaiting their prices in May.

The same hotels didn’t use to allow this so early, but we lost out not realising they’d changed policy. Austrian/German/Slovakian guests seem to book over a year ahead and the hotel promises the same room they occupied last season.

@nba2005uk,
If there is something specific you want, book it as soon as it is available.
The more flexible you are on requirements the more you can wait for a late availability bargain.
