Have being in Tignes for a week and this year kids ski pass was free for under 7’s……. I’m pretty sure this is new this year in the espace Killy. Are there any Other resorts in Europe, France especially as it’s a saving worth having ……

Under 7s is pretty good. Here (Wengen, CH) it’s under 6.

That is good, French resorts not typically as generous on age. In Italy, La Thuile & Cervinia are under-8s ("a free pass shall be given to children born after 31/10/2014"), similar in Via Lattea.

Saalbach - kids born 2017 and later ski for free.
At Easter, all children born 2007 and later - i.e. up to 16 - ski for free (from 1st - 10th April).

France is usually free under 5, Flaine (and, by the OP, Tignes) is an exception that seem to start this season.
Switzerland is (usually) free under 6.
Is it free as in free beer or coming with conditions like "when you buy an adult pass"?

Good question. In Wengen it’s properly free, as in you can rock up at the station with your child and proof of age, and get a pass without buying anything else.

I know a 5 yo takes the same space as an adult on a lift (and younger ones required more care), but the reality is that they won't ski as much - they take longer to go back down, get tired earlier, require a warm restaurant etc. so shelling 54 euros per day in Les Arcs, for example, really hurts!

In Morzine/Les Gets it is free for under 5s, no catch at all, no adult pass needed alongside and no restriction on number of days. You just have to take their passport or birth certificate to the tourist office to collect it.
Unfortunately ours is now 5 and we have to buy him one, was great up until now!

Different country but Ski Amade pass in Austria is fantastic value. We were out there last week and of a party of two male adults and one 9 year old child we paid for 1 lift pass.
Ladies week promotion which includes 'bring a friend' and kids ski free from 18th March until end of season. Hit the same week last year so great savings to be made if you are flexible on dates.

Loss leader. Get them hooked when young, then get the profit, sometimes through generations, later!
Isn’t there another thread where there are also free passes for those, er, in their second childhood?

In many (most?) places in France (eg Vald'Isere, Trois Vallées and Serre Chevalier, but not La Grave) you get a free ski pass for over 75s. I just missed it by a couple of months this season. Amazing, given the spending power of most oldie skiers. You could make a case for us having to pay more than ordinary punters. But then, we are clearly incapable of skiing more than a few blue runs per week.
me last week (orange jacket) stepping down over large rocks. La Grave.

@James the Last, ah yes, that makes sense. But at La Grave they don't have pistes so have to charge for the off piste.

Chamonix you have to be 80, Verbier 76, Mongenevre, La Rosier, Flaine Val Cenis etc 75, Les Deux Alpes 72, much of Andorra 70.

Zermatt is free for under 9's, a rare bargain in an otherwise pricy resort

@snowball, we have a friend, now over 100, who we skied with in Flaine when he was 90, and oh such an elegant skier. He told us of being at an event in Zermatt when the mayor was present. He asked the mayor why there was no reduction for seniors, as he was at least 75 by then, and he was told “Mr T, if we charged you less we would have to charge everyone else more”

@DaveD: that last thought - well of course. I assume I'll start slowing down on the downhill one day rather soon (as I have been on the walking uphill for several years, progressively holding everyone up). Downhill it takes more effort to slow down and I just like to feel gravity doing what it does (so long as I'm in control, so not in the photo above!!!).
