@rambotion, not sure I get your point! I have often been at airports and had to queue. There seemed to be a fair few Border Force staff on duty interspersed with the Army.

Strolled through Gatwick tonight, the quickest ever. The military were handling most desks, plus some non-striking staff.

No problems arriving in Birmingham this afternoon. E gates working fine and army personnel on all the desks to move the families through quickly. Yes there was a queue as 2 flights arrived together but it moved fast.

Sailed through Manchester this afternoon. Navy doing a great job. Straight through super quick .
Same can’t be said for the French. Utter carnage at Grenoble airport, never again!
Took so long To check both my teenage daughters fainted along with many around them, the fire brigade had to help out. Then no one was through passports so all flights delayed, the.min delayed further by incorrect paperwork!

No problems on Saturday 24th flying into Edinburgh from GVA. Nice experience at GVA passing through the C gates, still a long walk to C58 though!

maybe border force needs to be absorbed into the armed forces that protect out country.
Clearly a case of jobsworths being of zealous with the small bit of power they have. Probably failed in their Police Force applications.

Came home from Selva yesterday, landed at Manchester around 18:20…. Zero queue at passport control. Amazingly, luggage on carousel around 15 mins after landing. Christmas miracles do happen.

Hope your daughters are ok and recovered.
I avoid Grenoble like the plague. It’s a shed in a field. Stand in the rain to even get into the terminal. Minimal staff working and the facilities are basic at best.
If I’m visiting ski resorts in that part of the world, I’d always go for Lyon. Whilst any airport can suffer delays and be a nightmare, at least Lyon is an actual airport with enough room to sit, wait, get a refreshment etc.

Well this a downer for the prophets of doom on here.
FYI there's been no power outages or lunch time lift closures either and all spa facilities are working including outdoor pool.
