Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

How long will the skis last without a part of sidewall

In photo is a pair of used skis. It seems that the sidewall on the tail has been removed too much so the laminated structure could been seen.

What will happen to these skis and how long will the skis last? Anyway to repair?

FWIW if those were my skis that wouldn't bother me at all (unless they were new and the warranty still applied maybe). At some point it's probable they will delaminate further, but that's not such a big deal at the ends of the ski (underfoot/near the bindings is a bigger issue) and I bet you can get at least 30 days of skiing on them before that happens and probably another 30 before it becomes anything more than an aesthetic issue (caveat: if you're skiing gates and regularly putting race forces into the ski that might change the picture somewhat).

I've skied on worse for quite a long time, anyway wink

Given the exposed layer looks pretty porous I would think they will delaminate fairly quickly - water will get in low down (on a warm day) then freeze and force layers apart when you go high. I would seal while dry with a thin layer of epoxy to prolong life.

I'd be inclined to fill the edge with some epoxy (Araldite or similar) to keep moisture out.

Similar thoughts, but along the lines of polyurethane glue if that's the core material in the ski. Is the "foam" core polyurethane material?

Looks like you've got the makings of a nice wall ornament for your 'home bar'.
