I have seen resorts in Austria are announcing a cancellation of Night Skiing this season, also hot water for hand washing in bathrooms, is this just the beginning

Night skiing is over-rated anyway. Better in the bar.
But yes, I would imagine resorts will be implementing lunch time shut downs on lifts and pulling in closing times by 15-30 mins here and there. I also suspect we will see intermittent closing of less used lifts and funnelling of lift traffic onto already busy lifts meaning longer queues.
But we're getting to go skiing, after Covid lockdowns, anything is a bonus.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

No it's not - you are just doing it in the wrong places! Anyone who has skied Niseko after dark, with the snow falling, and few skiers about, knows it's hard to beat...

I concur with this but Champery on sheet ice was a death trap!

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I disagree night skiing is over-rated. Some of the best skiing I have ever had was on a weeknight, around 8pm to 10pm when people have gone home because the roads are getting unsafe and it is dumping powder. Getting rid of night skiing does seem to be more of the trend instead of adding lights IMHO. Just not many people ski at night so it is not great business at the larger resorts.

It's also to do with temp/wind etc. N Japan usually wonderful for this (still and bright) whereas E Canada (baltic and breezy) often miserable even with all the right kit.

Night skiing can be great! Often better visibility due to greater contrast. Fewer people. Cheaper. City League racing. And for people with day jobs: possible.
It also varies between hills close to metro areas (we have it 50 minutes away) vs at major but remote resorts, which are full of people who just skied during the day. Here it is probably a significant portion of their revenue, and we do want them to stay in biz.
I'll roll with cold water and some lift adjustments to save energy. The places I stay in the Alps could also easily turn the heat down substantially.

Or live in Finland, in which case the issue doesn't really come up - it's all fairly dark. Without night skiing... I'd not need to carry a clear lens. But then I paid for that lens, I think I need to use it now and then. I'm sure resorts lay on what they have customers for.

Done night skiing a couple of times....more as a novelty thing to do rather than something we felt added much to our ski days!

Night boarding is a different ballgame all together in niseko. It was by far the best part of our trip as unfortunately the weather was pretty lousy. They opened so many runs and was almost empty just a few other boarders and a couple of skiers.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

What about tobogganing, Is that likely to be cancelled as well?

Climb up a hill, using your own power. Slide down. Good exercise, keeps you warm. Why would it be cancelled?

You know it makes sense.

My local area has said they’ll be slowing down some lifts and closing ones where there are two options to roughly get you to the same place. Hopefully, on peak days they’ll keep everything running at full speed.
