Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Booster strap

I snapped my booster strap on my atomic hawx in half earlier when tightening after first few runs. Does anyone know if these aftermarket booster straps come with rivets or screws to fit them?

Booster original straps don't. You need to get hold of some. Sure your local ski shop will had something for the job.

Just pulled liner out and looked at it. I think how you do it is cut away the old strap and then rivet the new strap into the very substantial original rivets.

@Glosterwolf, I drilled the old rivets out to remove the strap and replaced with captive nut and Allen bolt supplied.

You can use things that look like rivets but are opposing male-female screws.

Your local DIY will have them.

I bought Booster Straps from Ski Bartlett about two years ago and for about £1-2 extra they sent me all of the hardware I needed to mount them.

This thread has reminded me about an issue I have with my Fischer Ranger booster straps.

They have a ratchet system instead of velcro. The strap can certainly tighten really well, but it is not particulary wide and is quite fiddly to get thru the ratchet gap - esp first thing in the morning.

Added to that, the end of the strap itself started fraying after half a dozen uses - I burned it to make it useable again, but I just hate the design.

Think I might look at an after market version and replacing before the winter.

Went with these in the end, didn't want the extra fiddle with the metal buckle or anything that might alter feel of the boot as I am settled in them as they are.
