With the first frosts of Autumn starting to appear, it's time for a new Wales thread! MikePow has given me special dispensation to do this one
2021/22 was a very poor season in Wales with no prolonged cold spells, and only the most transient snowfall. However, there were a few days in December and February where some action was had on the highest slopes in the Brecon Beacons. Pictures below:
.
2020/21 was a MUCH better year - probably the best since 2010/11 with the hills covered in snow for weeks at a time, and some truly epic descents in Snowdonia!

Not me but amazing conditions!
Saturday brought the best skiing conditions to be seen in Snowdonia for at least 15 years.
Never thought I would get to snowboard a line like this in Wales. Tom was absent so no drone shots or fancy footage

Last few years several people have posted amazing videos from North Wales and said "best conditions in ..... years". I've been following it for about 6 years now, and every other year has had those conditions - in different areas. Sometimes multiple days throughout the season from different storms. You just have to get up there and get it while it's there!

What kit do you need to get up there? Just touring kit or are you using crampons, ice axe etc?

Just a touring kit. No need for crampons/ice axe, avalanche gear in South Wales at least.

Biggest damage this season has been on the volcanic rock in Turkey
Beacons is surprisingly rock free
It's the wax that gets destroyed

We’ll need to get used to using the correct Welsh name Bannau Brycheiniog and Eryri rather than Snowdonia.
Just like Bombay changing to Mumbai and Espace Killy changing to Val D’isere Tignes

If it stops people calling it 'the Brecons' it's a win in my books
