Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Tomsk, cathy, IncogSkiSno, thanks for the reports, interesting that Phil seems to be using a few different instructors from his usual ones. Is he maintaining strict enough "editorial control" on their teaching philosophies and methods?

Tomsk, cathy,

Great reports, nice to have some coverage on all the things I missed out! We may even consider doing the summer course Toofy Grin

Thanks to you both, and rob@rar my SO now realises that snowheads aren't internet freaks Very Happy

boredsurfin, You should give one these courses a go, there were some excellent skiers on the courses in the level 6 group.

slikedges, what, you mean 'The wheels on the bus' isn't part of Phil's teaching methods?? Shocked

Both John and Stewart were pretty 'on message' in teaching philosophy and reinforced what I'd viewed previously on the Snoworks DVD.

Seriously though, if anyone were thinking about going on a Snoworks course but were worried they were only for 'good' skiers, believe me, they're not necessarily! Embarassed Pick a week when they're doing Easy Terrain, which is Level 3, and if needbe you can move up classes. I'd say the weakest skiers in that group at the beginning of the week had trouble getting down reds & would side-step the tricky bits.

I've done a few Snoworks courses (and before that Improve Your Skiing, and The Ski Company). Lots of different instructors have been on those courses, but I thought they were of a uniformly high quality. All of them are BASI 1s or BASI Trainers, so share a common foundation in the BASI approach (incidentally Phil was responsible for collating lots of the material that forms BASI's 'Central Theme'), all of them reinforced the same approach to skiing, and all of them in my experience have been enthusiastic teachers. Obviously each instructor has their own style and pet drills they like to use, but I've never felt short-changed when I wasn't taught by Phil. In that sense I think there has been effective editorial/quality control. I understand the concern that Cathy and Incog wrote about earlier, and have seen it myself on other courses, but I don't think that being taught by somebody else on a Snoworks course dilutes the experience.

Hi there! This is my first time on snowheads - just wanted to say, great reports on the course last week! I had a fab time as well, met some fun people and enjoyed the skiing in spite of the weather/snow/hordes of people. My OH thoroughly enjoyed the course as well. Big thanks to our instructors, John, Stewart and Lee Very Happy Smile

IncogSkiSno, I suspect you are in trouble with a couple of snowHead .

I just realised that meeting Rob proved to Mr snotski that 'Snowheads aren't internet geeks'. Given that by the time he met Rob your SO had already spent time with cathy, and Tomsk, I would respectfully suggest that you have some explaining to do to Athos and Aramis ...

PS. I'm allwed to misread stuff at my age ... and all it emans is you have been selective about who you let him meet !
