Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Grenoble - Vaujany: Where's all the hire cars??

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi

I'm doing some initial research as i'm probably going with a group of 10 in Jan to Vaujany, we're doing self catering so wanted to do a big shop on the way and rent a few cars instead of a taxi transfer.
Or at least one car then a few in a taxi.

Literally nothing is coming up for Grenoble airport??
Am I missing something

There's an absolute poo-poo tonne in Grenoble itself, but that's ages away from the airport so it's a bit of a trek via public transport, or a probably expensive taxi

Not many flights outside Saturdays in winter, probably not much call for hire cars. Grenoble town has 700K residents and is a major industrial center with international visitors arriving by train, so much more demand.
Avis are the only agency at the airport but have limited opening.

On a busy weekend Grenoble airport is as close to hell as you are likely to visit while alive.

Grenoble airport also isn't that close to Grenoble, it's half way between Lyon and Grenoble and isn't served by as many flights as the former.

Most year round commuting traffic to Grenoble will be via Lyon airport. Hence all the hire cars are there.

Having said that hire cars are looks expensive this season. I was pricing a small automatic SUV out of Lyon for a week at the start of Feb and it was going to be £500-600. 2-3 years ago that got me a Merc mini-van.
