Hi, does anyone fancy going to Austria (zell am
See or similar) second week in January 2023? I’m mid 30s and skied 2 and a half weeks on snow. Sociable and enjoy the night life but not a huge partier!

Checked my dates off work and it’s actually the 14th I go. Don’t know why I thought it was the second week.
I’ve heard Saalbach is a nice place but never been.

Skied both Zell and Saalbach in 2000s. Zell am See has much more to do apres, Saalbach Hinterglemm is a superior bigger ski area. I dont rate Kaprun which comes with Zell pass - treeless and a bit bleak imo. For a relative novice Zell is a decent ski area though.

That’s good. Cos I’m just on my own I want somewhere that is easy to navigate around. I’ll probably get three days of lessons then just ski on my own / see if there’s anyone on here who fancies meeting up. Hopefully I’ll be fairly comfortable on reds by the end of the week!

I have skied in zell about 15 years ago with what I remember (I was in my early 20's and it was all about apre and not so much skiing then) it was very easy to navigate and nice beginner/intermediate area. You will love it!
Sounds like we will be there at same time, be nice to do a few laps n grab a coffee. Always nice to say hello to another snowhead.

@Rach1257, @WASHOUT, I'm going for the week of the 14-21 Jan and staying in Viehofen. I'm with a mixed ability group which will likely be chaos but happy to try and meet up too! I'll probably be in the area the following week as well but without the herd of cats so easier to meet up with folk!

I’ll be in Saalbach all season if anyone wants to meet up. As I live there most of the time I should be clued up on what’s going on.
Also feel free to ask for my comprehensive, 20 page guide to Saalbach and the Ski Circus (by personal message with email address).
Incidentally Saalbach’s après-ski ski is renowned, and is far superior to Zell am See (as is its ski area). Zell is okay for a summer holiday.

@Rach1257, hope you are ok. I am looking skiing Austria for a week Saturday 14th. I have skied on my own last 3 trips so this year I thought about joining a group or similar people. Let me know if you find anything or groups I was thinking Mayrhofen but there’s nothing in place. Reach out

@Rach1257, If you come to Flachau we'd be happy to show you around. If I'm working then Mrs R&W is on hand to ski whenever you want. If you're not fixed yet, can I suggest you have at look at Haus Susanne in Radstadt, Ben and Ange always happy to help solo travellers. https://austrian-adventures.com/

Hi, thank you for these recommendations. I’ve actually booked Zell am See as I’m taking my mam (she’s never skied before!) but will keep these in mind. I’m thinking of maybe trying to get a second trip in in March.

@Rach1257, if you join the Ski Club of GB there’s a very active rep in Zell am See, I’ve not skied with them myself but you would have people to ski with if you met up with them.

@Rach1257, there will be some advanced skiers there but it’s a really big group as far as I am aware so I’m sure you will find someone to ski with.
