Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hi
Anyone got any experience of using a tow bar mounted ski carrier? Have used abike carrier on a Tow bar with no issues. Seems a cheaper option than buying roof bars for my VW then adding ski carrier?

Hi Wavester, although a ski rack showing off your skis looks cool, it aint very good for the skis and bindings to get all that very corosive winter salt in them.
I suggest you get a ski box, then you can throw your skis, poles, boots and ice cream in it.
If you drive a Lotus of course ... its too easy and spoils the aero dynamics.
But who cares.

Wasn't going to be transporting Ski's to and from UK, in process of buying a place in the Maurienne so working out best way to get skis and the family up to the resorts so would only be short journeys

I have bought a bike rack and roof box from here in the past so I know they’re reputable. Good customer service too since I had an issue (that was my fault) and they were very patient.

Edit: Sorry. Just seen Bob posted the same link. I’ll leave since possibly useful to hear that company are decent.
